Co-op Ratings

What is Co-op Ratings?

Students all over the country search for internship opportunities every summer to gain experience and build their resume. Aside from adding a good name to their resume, students need to be able to add a top quality experience. CoopRatings.com allows interns to communicate with one another about which experiences were the most beneficial and in which ways.

The idea was bred from Northeastern University where most kids pursue three internship opportunities as a part of their five year curriculum. The initial launch in this niche market has validated the need for such a resource as students are applauding the usefulness of this resource in finding an internship that is in line with their career paths.

What is my role?

Title: Founding Partner and CTO
Employment dates: March 2008 - Present

My primary reason for attending Northeastern University was due to the highly regarded Co-op Program.  I believed that with the right co-op, a student can quickly learn a variety of practical skills and knowledge to supplement what is taught in the classroom. However, after constantly hearing about bad experiences, my partner and I decided to start Co-op Ratings.com.  The goal was simple: help students weed the good jobs from the bad.

Using my technology skills, I designed an easy to use Web 2.0 site where students can register and rate their co-op.  Other students can then search and browse through these ratings and read other peoples experiences.  If they have any questions, they can follow up contact the student who rated the job and ask more questions. Besides developing the website, I also played an active role in executing and brainstorming marketing initiatives.
